The Shanty, Cape Charles' premier waterfront dining destination, was founded in 2012 by longtime friends Jon Dempster and Mike Doyle. Their dream of owning a restaurant became reality when Jon's boat accidentally landed in Cape Charles, where harbor master Smitty Dize encouraged him to stay and pursue the dream. Today, The Shanty is a sustainable seafood restaurant rooted in community, hospitality, and fresh local eats. Guests can savor homemade Crab Cakes, Seared Yellowfin Tuna Burgers, or the Mid-Atlantic Calamari with a cold drink while watching the sunset. With waterfront views, outdoor seating, live music, a full bar, and daily specials, The Shanty offers casual coastal dining with heart.
